Requirement – Existing Standards and Regulations

A general requirement of technology development is that state-of-the-art is followed. This applies in particular for safety related aspects in order to ensure the safety of users as well as of others, who might be affected by the technology. Therefore, existing standards and best practices must be adhered to in the development.

In addition development of ADF to take into cognizance the relevant regualtions that are reated to Automated Driving. 

Some relevant regulatiosn for ADF are:

  • UN (2019), UN documents / regulations, “Framework document on automated / autonomous vehicles“ 
  • UN ECE R-155 (2021), “Proposal for a new UN Regulation on uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regards to cyber security and cyber security management system”
  • UN ECE R-156 (2021), “Proposal for a New UN Regulation on Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Vehicles with Regards to Software Update and Software Updates Management System”
  • UNECE R157 (2021), “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to Automated Lane Keeping Systems”
  • EU commission (2022), “Rules for the application of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards uniform procedures and technical specifications for the type-approval of the automated driving system (ADS) of fully automated vehicles”
