HVI – Degradation of (tele-)operator (HMI Perspective)

This question addresses how degradation is handled in the HMI: for example, decreased bandwidth can impact video quality or increased latencies can change how a vehicles can be controlled. In this perspective, there is one top level question and then some subquestions, about latency, bandwidth and upcoming changes in the quality of service (Flemisch et al., 2011).

Main Question

Has degradation been considered and handled by the HMI (especially for operator)?

Sub-Questions

  1. Can a decreased bandwidth or increased packet loss been handled and managed, especially if this has an impact on the video quality?
  2. Can an increased latency been handled and managed, if it changes how a vehicle can be controlled?
  3. Is any mechanism used to predict such quality of service changes and can the upcoming changes be handled and managed?
