HVI – Permission of the Use of NDRT (Secondary Tasks)

This question and related sub-questions address the secondary tasks allowed during AD (at least from L3 functions). It is important to consider what is currently available and what will become available in the future: these aspects shall be taken into account from the beginning of the function development (i.e., definition phase). Moreover, the possibility to add new apps / secondary tasks to the vehicle in the future, should be considered as well (Botta et al., 2019).

Main Question

Are most of the relevant secondary tasks considered?

Sub-Questions

  1. Is the user workload when interpreting the HMI messages assessed?
  2. Is the user distraction due to HMI messages during use of the ADF assessed?
  3. Is the driver able to keep one hand on the steering wheel while interacting with the ADF?
