HVI – Enviromental Situations for the Operation of eHMI

The eHMI signal should be adapted to the environmental conditions that are primarily determined by weather influences, time of day (e.g., brightness), infrastructure (e.g., terrain), and traffic context (e.g., occlusions and noise level) in order to ensure that the signal stands out from them and is always easily perceptible. (Wilbrink et al., 2023).

Main Question:

Is the eHMI adaptive to (Traffic) Environment?

Sub-Questions:

  1. Is the eHMI affected by weather conditions and time of the day?
  2. Is the eHMI influenced by infrastructure and road conditions?
  3. Is the eHMI determined by the traffic context?
