AVs are unlikely to gain widespread acceptance until the users feel assured of their safety, security and privacy. It is true not only for the passengers but also for other road users. This means the behaviour of the vehicle has to be according to the requirements of the society. This can be achieved by ensuring that AVs are equipped with ADF respecting general ethical rules (ISO 39003, 2023) and beliefs which are developed and documented in the form of guidelines and standards.
Main Question
Are development activities planned according to the applicable (national/regional) ethical standards?
Sub-Questions
- Are mechanisms established to minimise the risk of harm to people in the development, testing and operation phases?
- Are ethical standards considered during the test planning process and the collection and analysis of data?
- Has it been defined how to consider requirements regarding positive risk balance of production systems during test phase?
